As you all know, lockdown has interrupted our SoundCafe services once again. After completely re-focusing our activities in 2020, we have once again changed the way we work to accommodate the government’s recommendations on keeping safe and well during the pandemic. This means that face to face services are not possible right now. With vaccines being given at a superb rate we are very hopeful that in the next couple of months this will change. But for now, we have had to find a way to offer contactless creative workshops.
We are doing this by sending resources to our guests out by post. Obviously this presents its own challenges where guests are homeless, or under threat of homelessness. These are ongoing issues we are working to overcome. However, our classes have been hugely popular so far. Each one of our 12 person classes has been completely booked up. We are over the moon that some of our guests have chosen to share the creative activities they enjoy with us on social media. You can follow us on Facebook and Twitter to keep in touch with the SoundCafe team.
Creative workshops – projects completed by guests
One of our guests wrote this wonderful poem at our creative writing workshop and has given us permission to share it with you:
Geoffrey the Giraffe
by Mickey
Geoffrey the Giraffe would try and make friends
But all the other animals would laugh
Geoffrey couldn’t understand this
And why they were so mean
They were the meanest animals he had seen
Geoffrey was about 15 feet tall
Looking down the animals seemed so small
Geoffrey didn’t give up trying to make a friend
Rabbit accepted him in the end.

This card was made by one of our guests who joined in with the card making workshop
