SoundCafe Welcomes Bishop Martyn

SoundCafe was delighted to welcome Bishop Martyn on Wednesday 2nd October. +Martyn not only spent time with guests but also announced that his Lent Appeal 2019 had raised £3,168 towards supporting our work.
He also shared news of a second celebration as Roz Burch, Chair of Trustees for SoundCafe, is being licensed by the Bishop as a Pioneer Lay Minister, in the annual Called Together service at Leicester Cathedral at 11am on Saturday 12th October.

SoundCafe Closed in Response to Coronavirus

We are really sorry that we are closing SoundCafe Leicester sessions from Wednesday 18th March 2020 until further notice.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide a ‘safe creative space’ for everyone due to the threat of coronavirus and the need to protect both our guests and volunteers at this time.

We will be posting updates on our website and Facebook page and will keep you informed of any developments, as far as we are able.

Volunteering Opportunities

Are you free on a Wednesday afternoon and looking for a new opportunity to volunteer?

SoundCafe is currently recruiting volunteers to support our Wednesday afternoon sessions 12.15 – 3.00 pm.

SoundCafe is only possible through the dedicated support of our volunteers and helpers.

If you are interested in exploring further do contact maria@soundcafe.org.uk and we can arrange for you to visit and explore volunteering with us.

City Small Charity of the Year Award 2019

We are delighted to have been awarded City Small Charity of the Year award 2019 at the first Voluntary Action Leicester & Leicestershire (VALL) awards ceremony on the 5th November. We were the first charity to be given a VALL award in Leicester & Leicestershire – a really amazing privelege.

Roz Burch, Chair of SoundCafe received the award and said, ‘Its a real honour to have received this award on behalf of SoundCafe. I am so proud of the whole team who put in 120% into each session for our guests.I am equally pleased for our guests that homelessness has been given this attention and priority.’

 

 

SoundCafe Becomes a BMO

SoundCafe has now been granted a Bishop’s Mission Order meaning that it’s recognised as part of the ‘big family’ that is the Church of England in Diocese of Leicester.

In giving the Bishop’s Mission Order, the Bishop of Leicester endorsed and authorised SoundCafe Leicester (SCL) as a distinctive Christian community joining in with the mission of the local Church.
